In November 2025, Urgent Action Fund Asia & Pacific (UAF A&P) released a report, “Rumah Kita: The Story of Our Becoming”, sharing the story of its origins as a fund.
The newest of Urgent Action Fund (UAF)’s Sister Funds, UAF A&P supports women and non-binary activists in Asia and the Pacific. The report shares how UAF A&P drew from its sister funds’ history of supporting resilient feminist movements for justice while also developing its own practices uniquely attuned to the Asian region.
The creation of UAF’s regional funds has been a significant step in the decentralization of decision-making power and the creation of more equitable partnerships in philanthropy.
The report describes how conversations starting in 2014 led to the UAF A&P launch in 2017. The report aims to honor the effort, preserve UAF A&P’s history, and reflect on the process of creating the new fund. Guiding questions in the report offer opportunities for reflection amongst those working in philanthropy, collaborative funds, and other de-colonial models of funding.

“The goal is not to provide an exact blueprint or sequence of steps, but to support joyful, creative, and collective iteration,” UAF A&P writes.
