On January 27th, Channel Foundation grantees Alliance for Feminist Movement, Gender Funders CoLab, and Mama Cash combined forces to launch Accelerate Together, a global initiative to mobilize $600M USD annually for women-led movements around the world.
At a time with rising threats to reproductive freedom, women’s rights, and democracy, this initiative meets an urgent need to strengthen funding for feminist movements worldwide.
Accelerate Together drives resources to scale the work of grassroots women’s organizations in progressing causes including bodily autonomy, community safety, and gender justice for all. The campaign aims to address the widening funding gap that these organizations face despite their invaluable impact.
“We know that women’s movements have been taking action on these issues around the world, and are ready to grow their work,” said Rachel Jacobson, co-director of the Alliance for Feminist Movements, to Alliance magazine. “Accelerate Together is about meeting this moment in history with the scale and seriousness it demands.”
Annie Hillar, executive director of Gender Funders CoLab, highlighted to Alliance Magazine how the initiative consolidates support to human rights past “fragmented funding”.
