They <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">are channeling funds to LGBTIQ groups in Ukraine, and for shelter and support in nearby countries.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Channel&#8217;s partners at\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelfoundation.org\/grants\/purposeful\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Purposeful<\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong>home of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theglobalresiliencefund.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Global Resilience Fund<\/a>, have provided some discretionary funds to enable rapid grants to existing With and For Girls &amp; Global Resilience Fund grantee groups in Ukraine, and have also offered some funds to support the Ukrainian Women&#8217;s Fund directly. <span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">In addition to this, they are also planning to support 4-5 additional new groups in Ukraine. Activist panelists are meeting to look at how best to support activists they are in touch with. With panelists and feminist allies, they are currently compiling a list of young feminist groups and emerging collaborations that they understand need support at this time.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">They encourage people<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"none\">to direct resources<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"none\">to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelfoundation.org\/grants\/ukrainian-womens-fund\/\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\"><strong>Ukrainian Women&#8217;s Fund <\/strong><\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">and the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/secure.givelively.org\/donate\/urgent-action-fund-for-women-s-human-rights\/urgent-response-fund-ukraine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Urgent Action Fund<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">. In addition, Purposeful can pass through funds to young activists in Ukraine on behalf of any other public foundations without overhead charge\/operating fees. They are currently using informal mechanisms.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Channel partner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelfoundation.org\/grants\/frida\/\"><strong>FRIDA<\/strong><\/a> has been in touch with their five grantee partners and advisors in Ukraine to see where FRIDA could support them. They have shared contacts for emergency evacuation support, and are supporting the grantees with additional funds and emergency grants. FRIDA also recognizes that they don&#8217;t have extensive emergency support systems in place, so whenever larger financial support is needed, they connect the groups with the Urgent Action Fund. FRIDA&#8217;s grantee partner from Ukraine, the Feminist Workshop, has a separate fundraiser: <a href=\"https:\/\/femwork.org\/warinukraine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">femwork.org\/warinukraine\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022, the Polish Feminist Fund, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelfoundation.org\/grants\/femfund\/\"><strong>FemFund<\/strong>,<\/a> has been reaching out directly to organizations and groups providing direct support to refugees and people on the move. Channel has given them extra support for their work.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2 SCXW34854314 BCX0\" data-ccp-parastyle=\"Default\">Since the start of the Russian invasion, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelfoundation.org\/grants\/fos-feminista\/\">F\u00f2s Feminista<\/a><\/strong><\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2 SCXW34854314 BCX0\" data-ccp-parastyle=\"Default\">,<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW34854314 BCX0\" data-ccp-parastyle=\"Default\"> an international alliance for sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice, has been focused on getting <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">support to their partners in Eastern Europe, the <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/astra.org.pl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Central and Eastern European Network for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (ASTRA)<\/a><\/strong><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, which has been working for more than 20 years with organizations in 21 countries in the region, including two in Ukraine where they provide health services, promote sexuality education, and implement harm reduction projects to prevent HIV.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> ASTRA as well as the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.federa.org.pl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Federation for Women and Family Planning (FEDERA)<\/strong><\/a>, their member in Poland, have been providing support to thousands of women and girls seeking sexual and reproductive health care. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women with Disabilities\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelfoundation.org\/grants\/drf\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Disability Rights Fund<\/a><\/strong><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> which made grants in Ukraine for more than 5 years, have recently made some emergency grants to organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs) in Ukraine to advocate for the needs of people with disabilities in humanitarian response. They shared that persons with disabilities in Ukraine currently need:<\/span><span href=\"https:\/\/womenenabled.org\/news\/statement-of-solidarity-with-women-girls-and-gender-minorities-with-disabilities-in-ukraine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement of solidarity<\/a> when the attack began and have been sharing resources and appeals from their partners in the region on social media platforms.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Advocacy Statements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Channel&#8217;s partner the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelfoundation.org\/grants\/wilpf\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Women&#8217;s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF)<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>has put out a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wilpf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/20220130_Conflict-Ukraine_European-WILPF-Sections.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">call<\/a> to European governments to de-escalate the conflict in Ukraine and is posting frequently on social media and in blog posts.<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">The <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelfoundation.org\/grants\/gnwp\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Global Network of Women Peacebuilders<\/a><\/strong><span data-contrast=\"none\"> has put out Solidarity Statement and <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/gnwp.org\/solidarity-ukraine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Appeal<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\"> for the immediate cessation of hostilities in Ukraine and respect of international Human Rights and Humanitarian laws.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelfoundation.org\/grants\/gfw\/\" data-contrast=\"none\">Russian<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Philanthropy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Channel is also an active member of several donor affinity groups who are helping to coordinate philanthropic response to the crisis and are collaborating even more closely than before.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edgefunders.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EDGE Funders Alliance<\/a> launched a regular call focused on coordinating response amongst its members and started a critical sharing of resources.<\/p>\n<p>Alex Toma, the Executive Director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/peaceandsecurity.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Peace and Security Funders Group<\/a>, penned this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.philanthropy.com\/article\/the-war-in-ukraine-requires-a-major-philanthropic-response-and-overall-increase-in-peace-and-security-funding?cid=gen_sign_in\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">op-ed in the Chronicle of Philanthropy<\/a> decrying the very small amount of funding going to work in this space.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelfoundation.org\/grants\/genderfunders\/\">Gender Funders CoLab<\/a>, in collaboration with Philea, and European donor networks and foundations, launched the integrated online portals\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ariadne.cmail20.com\/t\/t-l-qstdtt-jlhdfkdkk-r\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PhilanthropyForUkraine.eu<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ariadne.cmail20.com\/t\/t-l-qstdtt-jlhdfkdkk-y\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NGOforUkraine.eu.<\/a>\u00a0The initiative aims to better coordinate the efforts, initiatives and calls for donations from the European philanthropy sector and NGO community in Ukraine and neighboring countries.<\/p>\n<p>The portals will directly support the work of two key stakeholders:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0(I)NGOs and grassroots organizations, to communicate their needs to a wide community of donors; and to navigate the offers made by funders.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0Philanthropic organizations, to\u00a0understand and respond to the needs of (I)NGOs and grassroots organizations; to\u00a0share updates on resources mobilized to support Ukraine; and to understand which pledges and commitments are being made by their peers; and .<\/p>\n<p>A simple online template allows both stakeholders to publish their efforts directly to the portals in their own languages.<\/p>\n<p>Since the portal was just launched, Gender Funders Co-Lab are working with folks to upload info from feminist groups and funds in the region to make their needs visible to more European donors.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrfn.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Human Rights Funding Network (HRFN)<\/a> put out a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrfn.org\/community-voices\/funding-for-ukraine-an-incomplete-response\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> looking at the philanthropic community\u2019s response
