{"id":7530,"date":"2024-06-13T19:42:58","date_gmt":"2024-06-13T19:42:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.channelfoundation.org\/?p=7530"},"modified":"2025-03-30T20:16:53","modified_gmt":"2025-03-30T20:16:53","slug":"numun-fund-launches-new-grantees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.trockwebdesign.com\/channel\/2024\/06\/13\/numun-fund-launches-new-grantees\/","title":{"rendered":"First Grantees of New Feminist Tech Fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In Spring 2024<span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelfoundation.org\/grants\/numun-fund\/\">Numun Fund<\/a>, a Channel grantee partner and the first feminist tech fund working at several intersections including LGBTQI+ and women&#8217;s rights, made public some of the recipients of its first round of grants.\u00a0 It<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s <a href=\"https:\/\/numun.fund\/grants\/#:~:text=In%20July%202022%20Numun%20Fund,activism%20new%20or%20exploratory%20projects.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cSeed, Grow and Sustain\u201d<\/a> grant program is the first of its kind.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The multi-year, flexible grant program first launched in July 2022 and consists of grants ranging between $5,000 USD-$100,000 USD. These grants seek to <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cseed, resource and sustain a thriving ecosystem of feminist activists who define, imagine and shape technology for the world we need.\u201d \u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:279}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The program consists of three types of grants. Seed grants range from $5,000 USD-$10,000 USD and provide support and resources to emerging initiatives. Grow grants range from $10,000 USD-$50,000 USD aiding in the growth of groups that have at least 2 years of experience. Sustain grants range from $50,000 USD-$100,000 help sustain feminist tech organizations with flexible, general support funding.<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Numun Fund received over 800 applications from groups in over 200 countries for the grant program. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">On March 8, 2024, Numun Fund announced its current grantee cohort of 43 groups from across the globe. Total funding for these &#8220;nodes&#8221; amounts to around <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">$1.6 million USD. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:279}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Grantees were chosen in a participatory process with the support of <span data-contrast=\"auto\">a Grantmaking Design Circle, an \u201cadvisory group made up by activists and practitioners in feminist tech, human rights, women\u2019s funds and intersectional feminist and social justice movements&#8221;,\u00a0 and a Community-led<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Selection Committee. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Members of these groups included<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Jac sm Kee, Numun Fund Co-founder, Anasuya Sengupta, Numun Fund Co-founder, Nadine Moawad, feminist activist, and Salome Chagelishvili, feminist activist, among several others.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Of the 43 grantees, one is based in the Caribbean, eleven are based in Central &amp;
